The joke won’t be on you this April if you pay attention to regular vehicle maintenance. Here’s a checklist of key vehicle maintenance tips for spring.
Check the tires
Be safe where the rubber meets the road. Make sure your tires have adequate tread and are properly inflated. If they are more than six years old, they should be replaced. Check the alignment and have the tires rotated every 6,000 to 8,000 miles or per the recommended mileage from your owner’s manual.
Get an oil change
The owner’s manual for your vehicle will recommend how often to have your oil changed, but it also depends upon how much you drive. Be sure to check the other fluids as well.
Turn on the lights
Not only are headlights, brake lights, turn signals and taillights necessary for you to see and be seen on the road, but making sure they are all in working order can save you unnecessary fines.
Check the wipers
Some people like to use different windshield wipers blades for winter and summer driving, and spring and fall is a good time to switch them out.
I can see the light
If you remove the air filter, you should be able to see through it if you look at a strong light. If no light comes through, replace it.
