As summer transitions into fall and it finally starts to cool off a bit in Louisiana, it’s a great time to perform maintenance on your Toyota. Follow these fall car care tips to keep your vehicle in good condition.
Clean the headlights
With the days getting shorter, it’s more important than ever to make sure your headlights are providing enough light in the dark. If they are cloudy, buy a headlight restoration kit and clean them off. If the headlights still don’t brighten up the road properly, you may need to replace them.
Buy new wipers
You need to get new windshield wipers about every six to 12 months so they can effectively clear away water. If it’s been a while since you last replaced them or they’re leaving streaks on your windshield, it’s time to get new ones. If you’ve only had your current set for a short period of time and they’re not working well, try to clean them with glass cleaner.
Examine the tires
Your tires need at least 1/8-inch of tread in order to provide enough traction on slick roads. Each month, you should check your tread by placing a quarter in it. The rim of the quarter to Washington’s hairline is roughly 1/8-inch. Replace the tires if the tread is too shallow.
