Spring is a great time of year here in Louisiana. The weather is warm, but the scorching heat of summer hasn’t arrived yet, making it a great time to get out and explorer. Here are some of our favorite spring festivals around Opelousas.
Bayou Bird Fest
Held in nearby Washington on March 28, the Bayou Bird Fest is a way to get to know some of the over 200 species of birds that live in the area. The day begins with breakfast at St. John’s Episcopal Church and leads into a breathtaking bird tour. Tickets for all the day’s events cost $45 per person.
Each spring, Arnaudville celebrates one of Louisiana’s most famous dishes, etouffee. This year’s festival will be held April 23-26. In addition to the delicious food, your family can enjoy carnival games, live music, shopping, and an auto show.
Sunset Herb & Garden Festival
If you love spending time outdoors in your garden, be sure to head to Sunset, Louisiana on May 2 for the annual Herb & Garden Festival. Master Gardeners will offer a variety of presentations and will be available to answer many of your gardening questions. There will also be a wide variety of local vendors selling plants, crafts, and other earth-friendly products.
